Staff from Sioux Lookout Home Hardware Building Centre presented Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) Foundation staff, along with SLMHC Foundation Board members and members of the MRI campaign committee with a cheque for $16,000 on Jan. 21.
The funds were raised through a fundraising golf tournament sponsored by Sioux Lookout Home Hardware in 2024 as well as monthly draws held at the store, both initiatives in support of a new MRI unit for SLMHC.
Sioux Lookout Home Hardware Building Centre Partner/General Manager Eric Bortlis had shared during last summer’s golf tournament, “Obviously it was a pile of work but the end result was $13,000 for a local initiative to support everyone in this town and this region. We received tremendous support. We plan on continuing the Sioux Lookout Home Hardware Building Community Golf Tournament.”
Melissa Slade, Donor Relations/Operations Coordinator, Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation, said of the donation, “This donation is a shining example of community stepping up – from the management group who organized the Home Hardware Golf Tournament this past summer, along with monthly draws at the Sioux Lookout Home Hardware location to the supporters of these initiatives. On behalf of the SLMHC Foundation, I would like to extend our sincere thanks for the support of our campaign to keep quality health care equipment close to home and efforts to bring MRI services to Sioux Lookout!”
