20th Annual Lobsterfest
The Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout hosted an evening of dinner, dancing, and fun for a good cause on Sept. 21 during their 20th Annual Lobsterfest at the Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club.
Dinner included lobster and ribs options with dessert. Silent and penny auctions also took place during the evening.
Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout President Andreas Kottschoth said the club sold close to 200 tickets for the fundraising evening. Kottschoth thanked everyone who attended as well as the businesses and individuals who donated auction items and supported the event. While he said it was great to see so many people come out and enjoy the event and support local and international Rotary projects, he said it would be nice to see attendance return to the event’s past normal of approximately 300 attendees.
“If people come out and enjoy it, maybe next year they bring their friends and hopefully next year we have a bigger attendance,” he said.
“This is one of those social events where people get together and talk to people they know that they haven’t seen for two or three months. So now you can reconnect… I think we have a couple new people here too that have never been to an event like this, so I think it’ a great event for the community,” he said.
Kottschoth said most of the money raised through the event will likely go towards the club’s $20,000 commitment to a new MRI unit at the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre.
