All federal candidates’ forum to be held in Sioux Lookout

A desire to know more about the Kenora riding federal candidates and a curiosity about what they have to say about questions local residents might have has spurred Sioux Lookout resident Anne Saltel to organizing a federal candidates’ forum in Sioux Lookout.
The forum will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 6:30 p.m., at the Legion, in the upper hall.
The forum will be moderated by Sioux Lookout resident Dick MacKenzie.
People will be asked to write down their questions, which will be drawn at random.
Saltel is asking people who wish to submit questions to arrive a bit early, as she would like the meeting to start promptly at 6:30.
“I really believe in democracy,” she said. “I really want to hear these people speak to me and answer questions on the fly… I want to know if they know how government runs, what the issues are, are they able to speak to the issues, are they well informed, that sort of thing.”
Saltel said the Sioux Lookout Public Library will capture the forum on video for anyone unable to attend.
She is hoping to set up a livestream for the event as well.
Saltel said incumbent Bob Nault of the Liberal Party of Canada, Rudy Turtle of the New Democratic Party, Eric Melillo of the Conservative Party of Canada, and Kirsi Ralko of the Green Party of Canada have all confirmed their attendance.
The federal election will be held on October 21.
