Nearly 600 people visited this year’s Christmas Arts and Craft Fair, hosted by the Friends of Cedar Bay, which was held at the Recreation Centre on Dec. 3.
Friends of Cedar Bay Vice-Chair Joyce Timpson said this was the 8th year Friends of Cedar Bay have run the event, which gives local bakers and artisans an opportunity to sell their wares to visitors looking to check items off their Christmas shopping lists.
This year’s Christmas Arts and Craft Fair attracted approximately 30 vendors, selling everything from baked goods, to knitting and sewing, to prints and calendars created by local photographers.
“It’s locally made by local craftspeople and artisan. We’re really very proud of it,” Timpson said.
Friends of Cedar Bay charged an entrance fee of $2 at the door, with proceeds supporting Cedar Bay.
“We have fairly high insurance costs for both the equine program and the lakeshore program. We’ve done a fair bit of infrastructure improvements with the new latrine, the wired pavilion, and we were able to purchase a Bobcat for the stable,” Timpson informed.
People can also support Friends of Cedar Bay with donations by mailing a cheque to Box 129, Sioux Lookout ON, P8T 1A1 or give Timpson a call at 807-737-2323. People can also EMT [email protected].
“We really appreciate the support the community has given,” Timpson said, adding, “Friends of Cedar Bay has really grown, and we have a lot of young board members and it’s just wonderful to have these new ideas.”
