COVID-19 outbreak at SLMHC declared over

A COVID-19 outbreak at Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) has been declared over.
SLMHC shared on Nov. 6 that, “In consultation with public health authorities, the COVID-19 outbreak at Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) has been declared over.”
“We would like to express our thanks and appreciation to all our staff for their hard work and dedication to infection prevention and control and keeping our patients, visitors and staff safe during this time,” stated SLMHC President and CEO Dean Osmond.
The COVID-19 outbreak at SLMHC had been declared on Oct. 23 after multiple cases of hospital-acquired COVID-19 were discovered.
SLMHC is reminding visitors to refrain from visiting patients if you are feeling unwell and experiencing symptoms such as fever, shortness of breath, cough, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea. “Please do not visit until you have fully recovered,” the health centre shared.
“If you are in need of medical care, for the previously listed symptoms or for other health care needs, SLMHC’s Emergency Department is open 24/7,” the health centre informed.
