COVID restrictions easing at Rec Centre, Arena

An easing of provincial public health measures last week means greater access to the Sioux Lookout Recreation Centre and Sioux Lookout Memorial Arena.
“Starting Thursday, February 17th, at 12:01 a.m., capacity limits for non-spectator areas of the Recreation Centre and Arena, including the Fitness Centre, will be removed. Proof of vaccination will still be required,” the Municipality of Sioux Lookout informed, adding, “Spectator areas of the Arena will be limited to 50 percent of capacity.”
“These changes will allow our members and our community greater access to the facilities,” said Recreation and Culture Manager, Rony Chakraborty in a Feb. 15 media release. He added, “We also look forward to expanding our programming in the coming weeks as things start returning to normal.”
The Municipality shared that enhanced proof of vaccination and other mandated requirements, like wearing a mask, will continue to apply until at least February 28th. “Ontario currently intends to remove all remaining indoor capacity limits as well as lift proof of vaccination requirements on Tuesday, March 1st. More details will be available closer to that date,” the Municipality clarified.
“We remind everyone to continue practicing physical distancing, wearing your mask, and washing your hands frequently. If you have not yet been vaccinated, you are strongly encouraged to do so. Please contact the Northwestern Health Unit for more information on upcoming vaccination clinics in the community,” the Municipality advised.
