Cross country skiers hoping snow is in the forecast

Members of the Nordic Nomads Cross Country Ski Club are hoping that snow is in the forecast.
At present, Nordic Nomads President Ron Laverty shared that trails are hard and icy.
“As long as we get tons of snow we’ll be really happy,” he said.
The Nordic Nomads, a volunteer organization, maintains over 25 km of cross country skiing trails at Cedar Bay and surrounding area.
“To get a trail pass you have to go online, just type in Zone 4 (https://zone4.ca/~80Rg8r/) in any search engine and then go to the Sioux Lookout Nordic Nomads Cross Country Ski Club and you can get your memberships there,” Laverty said.
“We spent quite a bit of money this year in cooperation with the MAT Tax people. We built our big garage to help house our snowmachines and our equipment and we also went into that with the Friends of Cedar Bay and also the Cedar Bay Trail Co. So, we have a place to store our equipment now and that’s been long overdue,” Laverty said.
The Nordic Nomads have been fundraising to replace one of their snowmobiles and to cover the cost of grooming the trails, which Laverty said can cost between $15,0000 and $20,000 a year.
