Dick's Hideaway:
Aromatherapy at its finest
Dick MacKenzie - www.dickshideaway.com
The exquisite beauty of a September evening is a natural spa. Camp tonight is aromatherapy at its finest.
This evening is too warm to be cold, but too cool to feel hot. I find comfort slumping in a comfy chair in the Palace, mostly in the shade, but feet stretched out in the lowering sun.
At my elbow, three feet to the left is my barbeque, wafting applewood smoke and the aroma of chicken wings preparing themselves slowly for a late dinner.
To my right, a couple metres away, the wood fired hot tub billows pine and birch smoke, getting ready for the after dinner soak, reveling at the sky stars above.
Straight ahead is one of my cherished views, admiring the water and trees in this part of the world. Besides the beautiful, funky smell of autumn, I'm inhaling the balm of fresh cut and split pine, and sawdust from yesterday's cutting of pucks from a crabapple tree for future smokings in my barbeque.
I feel thankful for the beauty that wraps me like a down quilt. It feels and smells incredible.
