Dick's Hideaway:
Nature's Cake
Dick MacKenzie - www.dickshideaway.com
A cake maker in a bakery couldn’t sculpt a frosted treat more beautiful than the wind on a snow covered lake at sundown.
Although the late winter view from my deck isn’t knock-you-down staggering, it’s pretty incredible. The cedar, as old as I am, standing sentinel on the point a hundred yards down the shore is proof of northern hardiness, a sapling challenged decades ago by erosion, that survived and thrived, to become a beacon in the bay.
Some moments and sunsets show more shine and glitter, but I never forget the every day beauty and the views that have led to a lifelong love affair.
