Time change
Time Change Weekend has become a pleasant event for us over the years.
When we arrive at camp on Friday morning of that spring weekend we immediately set our clocks ahead an hour. From then on we feel as if the next few days are enchanted, stolen moments that are ours alone. The Friday and Saturday sunsets with late barbeque suppers provide pure contentment and spark visions of summer days ahead. We can drink wine before noon.
By the time Sunday rolls around we have adjusted to the clock shock without even being aware anything has changed.
This year’s special treat was the sunrise visit by a good looking marten. I never knew a marten would eat vegetation, but as I admired the sun’s early rising rays painting the frozen lake, there he was, eating the sunflower seeds I had put out for the birds, through the window three feet away from my big bird watching chair.
I remember many years ago waking up tired and grumpy on Time Change Day and wonder why it took such a long time for me to figure out that a little bit of planning and a good heap of imagination could turn a crusty grunge day into a special event.
