Drug-related charges laid in Sioux Lookout

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Sioux Lookout laid drug-related charges against three people in the Municipality on May 9. Police say the arrests were made thanks to ongoing investigations being conducted by the Sioux Lookout OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).
Police shared in a May 10 media release that, “At approximately 11:00 am, officers conducted a traffic stop at the Ed Ariano Bypass after forming grounds to believe the vehicle contained illicit substances. The two occupants of the vehicle were subsequently arrested for possession of a Schedule I substance, and investigation yielded seizure of suspected illicit substances including cocaine, fentanyl, and prescription medication, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia, Canadian currency, and unmarked cigarettes.”
Police further shared that, “At approximately 4:00 pm, officers located and arrested one individual for failing to comply with release conditions stemming from drug-related charges that were laid by the Sioux Lookout OPP in March 2024. During the arrest, police seized suspected illicit substances including fentanyl and cocaine, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia and Canadian currency.”
A 39-year-old Thunder Bay resident and a 47-year-old Thunder Bay resident were charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking,
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime,
A 27-year-old from Sioux Lookout, was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking,
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime,
- Fail to comply to comply with undertaking, and
- Fail to attend for fingerprints.
