Easter Egg Hunt at the Cozy Cabin a hopping good time

Smiles abounded this past Friday at an Easter Egg Hunt at the Cozy Cabin, which was co-sponsored by the Friends of Cedar Bay and Sioux Lookout Public Library.
Nancy McCord, a volunteer with the Friends of Cedar Bay, is also the Assistant Librarian at the Sioux Lookout Public Library.
McCord said volunteers helped the Easter Bunny hide 2000 – 3000 eggs before the event got underway. “We were still hiding eggs at 2 o’clock, so I would say, realistically, 4000 were probably hidden throughout the event,” McCord said.
An estimated 300-400 people attended the event at the Cedar Bay lakeshore.
McCord said the event, in its 9th year, was “absolutely successful.”
“We had 50 chocolate bunnies hidden along the trail for the event and even for those kids that showed up quite late, we had some bunny helpers available to go hide eggs just to make sure that everyone who showed up found eggs. We had a few parents take us aside and thank us for that,” she shared.
Children exchanged the eggs they found for a candy bag.
The Library also held an Easter colouring contest from which two random winners will be chosen.
“Before the weekend, we probably had 35-40 sheets handed in,” McCord said.
Commenting further on the Egg Hunt, McCord said, “Once again it was super fun. We had three new volunteers.”
She explained, “We stick with Good Friday because almost everything is closed. It’s a day that most families have time together. There were a lot of new faces, people there for the first time this year, which was nice. There were actually quite a few families who had never done an egg hunt before.”
“We’re looking forward to ten years next year,” she concluded.
