Fairy Garden Contest
A new contest this year, community members were invited to create fairy gardens in their yards and register their addresses or send photos for judging.
According to Blueberry Festival Coordinator Jessica Darling, “Fairy gardens are miniature scenes made up of plants, rocks, and tiny decorations like little tree houses, chairs, wells, animals, and more! Contestants had total liberty on the elements they used and how big they wanted to make their displays. We saw some in little pots all the way up to fairy gardens that took up an entire yard! All were very creative and enjoyable to go around and see.”
Fifteen entries were received.
The winners are (pictured) cousins Sophie (taller) and Marley Sayers who judges determined had the most creative fairy garden of the contest. The cousins made many of the elements themselves and included hidden elements to find. Their prize was a pizza party donated by Chicken Chef.
Darling added, “Honourable mentions go out to Sharon Yule for the best storytelling and the largest fairy garden, Kiera Murphy for making a fairy wishing well in her yard, and to Aiden, Declan, & Catrina Dooley for a very colourful fairy garden featuring one of the hidden Blueberry Bert rocks they found during the festival!”
