Fatal plane crash in Sandy Lake

Sandy Lake First Nation Chief and Council have confirmed a plane crash in the community of Sandy Lake at approximately 6:50 p.m. on May 26 with one confirmed fatality.
Chief Delores Kakegamic shared the news on Facebook adding that there will be an official investigation and the crash site has been secured.
Kakegamic shared in her social media post the aircraft was a Sandy Lake Seaplane Cessna floatplane.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada shared on May 27 that it is deploying a team of investigators to gather information and assess the occurrence.
Kakegamic shared that Chief and Council would make further updates as they become available, adding, “We ask for your thoughts, prayers and support to family, friends, coworkers, community members.”
