MRI – Transforming Our Regional Health Care, One Image at a Time

Sioux Lookout - you may have noticed some terrific new signs around town to keep you up to date on our MRI Campaign status and goal!  These signs (located on 7th Avenue and also on Wellington across from the town beach) will serve as a reminder to keep “our eyes on the prize” – acquiring MRI services here in Sioux Lookout!!!  Watch the thermometer turn red as our fundraising proceeds and gets closer to our making this goal a reality! 
Split the Pot Lottery has replaced Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Foundations original 50/50 draw.
All hospitals in the province are required to raise their own funding to support the operation of their hospital and this is where the SLMHC Foundation comes into play.  Our hospital like many others across the province, were finding it difficult to compete with larger health care entities like the Thunder Bay Regional Health Centre 50/50.  They have the marketing and advertising resources and ultimately have built a tremendously successful fundraising source for the Regional Hospital which services our vast region.
However, hospitals in every community in Northwestern Ontario need your support too and SLMHC is no exception.  General day to day operations, along with the needs of all departments – Surgical, Laboratory, Diagnostic Imaging, etc.  The goal for our hospital is to provide more efficient, more accurate, quicker testing and a faster turn around for emergent health care and surgeries.  This with less stress on the patient and lessen the need for complicated and costly travel expenses to get to a larger centre for quality healthcare.
In supporting Split the Pot, proceeds from these sales will be split amongst participating hospitals.  When purchasing on-line, you can select a specific hospital foundation like Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win (on the drop-down menu) and SLMHC will then receive a higher portion of ticket proceeds from your purchase.  To date, SLMHC Foundation has received over $9,200 from the 2 Split the Pot draws that were completed in Fall of 2023 and Winter of 2024.
Tickets are on sale now for the current quarterly Split the Pot Lottery draw which runs May 9 to June 20.  Purchasing early provides chances to win on one of the 3 remaining weekly Early Bird Prizes totalling $60,000.00 along with the Jackpot.  Guaranteed Jackpot for this draw is $500,000.
Tickets are $100 for 600 Tickets, $75 for 200 Tickets, $50 for 50 tickets and $20 for 5 tickets.

The Foundation is so appreciative of the growing support and the understanding of Sioux Lookout having such significant lifesaving equipment.  MRI services are becoming a core health care diagnostic asset and improves patient outcomes because of more accurate and timelier diagnosis and treatment.  MRI will complement Meno Ya Wins other diagnostic services such as CT, Ultrasound, Mammography and Xray.
