Fresh Market Foods hosted a Family Carnival for the community of Sioux Lookout during this year’s Blueberry Festival, transforming their Garden Centre into a Carnival on August 1.
Fresh Market Foods Human Resource Manager Liz Ward said, “Every year we try to host a family event for our community. However, due to COVID restrictions in place last year, we were unable to hold our traditional Kids Day Event. This year restrictions allowed us an opportunity to once again put on an in-person event. Our Events Committee decided that a Family Carnival would be a lot of fun to do.” She added, “We started planning at the beginning of June and began work on the Garden Centre at the beginning of July to transform it into our Carnival. Many volunteer hours were put into creating this event.”
Ward shared that the carnival offered 11 games, including a tie dye station, face painting, balloon animals and dart throwing. Five-year-old Amelia Salo, who attended the carnival, said that she had a fun time and got a face painting of a rainbow, which she really likes.
Kendra Kashton who attended the event with her kids, said, “I really like it. All my kids really liked it…it was really nice, nice to see the town get together and everything, and have so many smiles on all the kids faces around here. It’s nice, I like it.”
“We feel the carnival was a great success! We were busy throughout the time and received lots of great feedback. We are extremely happy that we were able to put on this event for our community and look forward to doing more events in the future. We had a lot of fun running this event and hope the community enjoyed it also,” Ward concluded.
