A needs assessment study completed last month concluded that the Cedar Bay recreation area, located on Pelican Lake on the northwest side of Sioux Lookout, is an ideal location for grade school and high school outdoor education

Prominent citizen killed on New Year’s Day
Bill Atwood, 58, died in a head-on collision with a transport truck at 1:30 p.m. New Year’s Day. The accident occurred on the TransCanada Highway seven km west of Dryden.

Eleven Nishnawbe-Aski Nation members complete x-ray course
Eleven people from seven different First Nations communities graduated with certificates in Basic Radiography November 24. The graduates were part of a 15 month Mohawk College and McMaster University program that first started in 1989.
