Local hospital accepts grant for new equipment
The Ontario government is distributing a total of $189.5 million in grants this year across Northwestern Ontario. The purpose is to make sure that hospitals, cancer treatment centres and emergency health services can upgrade and modernize their equipment. In Sioux Lookout the DHC (District Health Centre) will receive $190,644 and the Kenora District Ambulance Service will receive $74,529.

Chamber makes final donation
Harvey Friesen co-chair of the Sioux Lookout Chamber of Commerce Cash Calendar Committee presents a cheque to Marnie Hoey, president of the District Health Fund. The cheque, for $1647.50, brings the total amount of money raised to $21,647.50. The proceeds were raised from the sale of the 1999 cash calendars.
