With balloons, ribbons and applause from community members, Your Dollar Store With More, located at 26 Alcona Drive in Sioux Lookout, officially opened its doors on Feb. 5.
“It is with immense pleasure and pride that I stand before you today to inaugurate the grand opening of the Dollar Store with more. The moment marks the culmination of months and years of dedication, hard work, and unwavering determination,” shared Todd Nadon, who along with wife Tracey Bullock, are the co-owners of the store in addition to co-owning Fresh Market Foods in Sioux Lookout.
“As we gather here, we embark on a journey filled with promise, innovation and endless possibilities,” Nadon shared with those present at the grand opening. “Today is not just about the physical space we’re unveiling, but the spirit of collaboration, creativity, and community that will breathe life into every corner of this establishment.
“I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all those who have contributed to bringing this vision to fruition - from the architects and designers who shaped this space, to the dedicated team who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, and to our esteemed partners and supporters that are all here today that saw purpose and stood behind us every step of the way.”
Nadon added, “This grand opening is not merely a celebration of bricks and mortar; it’s a celebration of the human spirit - of ambition, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of excellence and service to this community.
“This spirit is the testament of what can be achieved when passionate individuals come together with a shared commitment to make a difference.”
“As we cut the ribbon and officially open our doors, let us remember that we are opening up new beginnings and endless opportunities. I implore my team to seize this moment and move forward with the courage, conviction, and wonderment that this place gives all of us.
“So let us take this step into the future together anchored by the great values that brought us here in the first place. I am excited to be a part of our new journey, the next chapter of our story.
“Thank you, and let the journey begin” Nadon concluded.
The cutting of a ribbon to officially open the store was conducted by Your Dollar Store With More Managers Derek Nadon and Maura Ross.
Sioux Lookout Mayor Doug Lawrance thanked Nadon and Bullock for investing in the community and creating opportunities.
“On behalf of Council and the Municipality, congratulations,” he shared.
Community members were asked to bring a non-perishable food item to the grand opening to support the Sioux Lookout Food Bank. During the grand opening celebration, Nadon presented Sioux Lookout Food Bank representative Pastor Carter Krahn with a $1000 donation for the food bank.
Community members were welcomed into the store following the grand opening ceremony and a special grand opening cake was shared.
As he watched the store’s first customers take in everything the new store has to offer, Nadon shared, “We’re very proud to be in this community. We’re proud of the businesses we own.”
“The Dollar Store gives another dynamic to our entire group of companies. It offers value priced goods that you wouldn’t be able to receive in Fresh, which is mostly a grocery store. Fresh is kind of committed to going back to its core operations which is selling groceries. This kind of gives us just a whole other avenue to give people,” he explained, adding, “During the seasons you’ll see large changes in our merchandise, some of the things that are very unique about this store is we have a very large crafting section, something the community sort of put in our ear they were looking for us to invest in. Stationary, it’s got hardware, bed linens… and a huge party section.”
“We’re really, really excited to be able to offer this to the community,” Ross shared. “We’re really excited to be a part of the community. We’ve been here for almost a year now. It’s been a really great learning experience for us, an opportunity, and like I said, we’re just really excited to offer something new to the community.”
