Halloween Safety Tips
S – Swords and knives, accessories should be flexible, soft and short.
A – Avoid, going alone, walk in a group or with a trusted adult.
F – Fasten reflective tape to your bags or costumes so drivers can see you.
E – Examine all treats, for choking hazards and tampering. Do not eat any candy until you get home.
H – Hold a flashlight or glow stick so others can see you, always walk, and don’t run.
A – Always stay in well lit, familiar areas and neighborhoods.
L – Look both ways before crossing the street.
L – Lower your risk of injury by wearing make-up instead of a mask. Also costumes, wigs and beards should be labeled “flame resistant”.
O – Only walk on a sidewalk whenever possible, facing the traffic.
W – Wear well fitted warm clothing. Avoid costumes with baggy sleeves and flowing skirts to minimize the risk of contact with candles, getting caught on objects and falls.
E – Eat only wrapped treats. Avoid eating homemade treats from strangers.
E – Enter homes only if you are with a trusted adult. Never get into a strangers car.
N – Never assume a vehicle will stop for you. Never zig-zag across the street from one house to another. Stay on one side of the street.
