Impact of additional traffic in Fifth Avenue South / Wellington Street intersection area to be monitored

Could traffic lights be a thing of the future at the intersection of Fifth Avenue South and Wellington Street in Sioux Lookout?
With the opening of Dairy Queen last week in that area, the Municipality of Sioux Lookout says it will be, “monitoring the impact of additional traffic in the Fifth Avenue South/Wellington Street intersection and area over the next couple of weeks, to inform any future recommendations to Council regarding the installation of lights and/or other measures to mitigate traffic congestion in that area.”
The Municipality shared on its Facebook page last week, “The Municipality is working with the OPP who are going to increase traffic monitoring in the area and to ensure motorists are obeying the rules of the road. Please anticipate slower traffic and potential wait times in the area and adjust your travel times accordingly.”
If traffic lights may one day be deemed necessary, the Municipality confirmed that, “Electrical conduits and related core infrastructure for traffic lights at Fifth Avenue South and Wellington Street was installed during the last major upgrade to that intersection’s road and subsurface infrastructure (water, sewer, and storm sewer works).”
