Impaired operation charge laid following two-vehicle collision

One person has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after Sioux Lookout OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision, just before 2 p.m., at a business on Fifth Avenue and Wellington Street in Sioux Lookout on Nov. 10.
“Upon arrival, the driver of one of the motor vehicles was transported to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
“Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the second vehicle was impaired by drug and was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Sioux Lookout OPP Detachment for further testing,” Sioux Lookout OPP shared.
As a result, a 27-year-old Sioux Lookout resident was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sioux Lookout on January 9, 2024 to answer the charge.
“The OPP remains committed to taking alcohol/drug-impaired drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education. If you suspect someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it,”
