Community members and visitors to town were invited to Centennial Park on August 7 to take part in a time of singing and scripture reading led by representatives from member churches of the Sioux Lookout Ministerial Association - St. Andrew’s United Church, St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, and Cornerstone Christian Fellowship.
Merle Burkholder, Chair of the Ministerial Association and a member of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, shared, “Since this was the 40th anniversary of the Blueberry Festival we had a theme of Scriptural 40’s. Often in Scripture the number 40 is associated with times of testing or trial. The United church shared about the 40 years Israel was in the wilderness. The Anglican church shared about the 40 days Jesus was tempted in the wilderness. The Catholic Church shared about the 40 days and nights of rain when Noah was in the ark. Cornerstone shared about the 40 days Jonah preached to the city of Nineveh.”
Burkholder said the Ministerial Association felt the event went well and was well attended.
