Lac Seul Police Service involved in vehicle pursuit
On Friday February 21, 2020 at approximately 4:20 am, the Lac Seul Police Service (LSPS) were on patrol on Hwy 664 near the town of Hudson, ON when officers observed a suspicious motor vehicle with three occupants. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, they failed to stop as requested, and then fled the area at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle was located a short time later with assistance from the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and all three occupants were arrested. Upon further investigation, officers seized a small quantity of suspected crystal meth inside the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, the LSPS have charged the following three individuals;
Accused #1 -Female (44) from Dryden, Ontario;
• Flight from Police contrary to section 320.17 of the Criminal Code
• Operation while Impaired contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Operation while Blood Concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1 )(b) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of Methamphetamine contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA)
• Fail to use lower beam-oncoming contrary to section 168(a) of the Highway Traffic Act
• Drive with no currently validated permit contrary to section 7(1 )(a) of the Highway Traffic Act
• Fail to stop for Police contrary to section 216(3) of the Highway Traffic Act
Accused #2- Male (21) from Dryden, Ontario:
• Obstruct Police contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code
• Fail to Comply with Prohibition Regarding Children contrary to section 1 61 (4) of the Criminal Code
Accused #3- Female (32) from Frenchman's
Head, Ontario
• Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code
• Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code
The motor vehicle was towed and impounded under the Provincial Vehicle Impoundment Program (VIP) for seven Days.
All three Accused persons will appear in Sioux Lookout Court to answer to the above charges as follows;
Accused #1 & #2 is scheduled to appear in Sioux Lookout Court on March 31, 2020.
Accused #3 is being held, and will appear for Video Bail Hearing on March 6, 2020.
