A Ladies Night Out Purse Auction hosted by the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation on the evening of Oct. 12, at the Legion, has raised $4470.
The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation will use the funds raised to purchase greatly needed equipment for the health centre with priority given to the new MRI.
“I think it was a great event. It was well supported and well attended,” shared Melissa Slade, Donor Relations/Operations Coordinator, Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation.
Approximately 50 ladies attended the event. Some had attended before, and for others, it was their first time.
“It was a great profit on the event itself and it was a great night out and any feedback that I have had from any attendees is just that it was a lot of fun and that they are really looking forward to hyping up the next one and letting all their friends know just what the event’s all about,” Slade shared.
The event featured a live auction with 20 purse packages being auctioned off by auctioneer Melvin George. Individual purses were also for sale along with scarves and books.
Slade thanked the community, who donated the items for the auction, for their ongoing support.
Sioux Lookout Mayor Doug Lawrance, a Foundation board member, showed off each auction item.
Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre President and CEO Dean Osmond addressed event participants early in the evening.
“I would like to thank all the sponsors and donors that made the Ladies Night Out event a huge success, along with the work of the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation. It was great to see the number of participants out for this event. These fundraisers greatly impact the ability to purchase equipment for our hospital,” he stated.
