The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 78, in Sioux Lookout held its first steak fry of 2023 on May 19, with 61 dinners being sold for the family friendly event.
Legion General Manager Polly Adams shared, “Our first steak fry of the year had a great turnout to kick off May long weekend; a perfect amount of people to allow us to get back in the groove and we look forward to numbers increasing throughout the summer as we host more.”
Adams added, “I would personally like to extend a special thank you to Les West for being an exceptional volunteer and helping with set up as well as barbecuing our guests’ steaks. A very big thank you to Meg Brohm, our new executive member who has taken over the entertainment chair, for planning and assisting in all the hard work to prep the events including our steak frys. Thank you to our new Executive members Kelli George-Egerter (Poppy Chair) and Garth Gastmeier(Sports chair) and existing Executive Deb Roy (Membership Chair) for showing up to prep to and assist for the event. Also, a thank you to my bar staff for providing wonderful service and jumping in to help when needed. We’ve got a good crew and without them these events would not be able to take place. Thank you to all who came out to support!! Next steak fry is set for June 30th just in time for Canada Day.”
