The Edwin Switzer Memorial Legion Branch 78’s Legion Ladies Auxiliary are carrying on a Remembrance Day tradition and are hoping the community will help them support the Legion in Sioux Lookout.
Following Remembrance Day service in Sioux Lookout each year, members of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary have prepared a beef on a bun lunch.
Although there is no service scheduled to take place at the Legion this year that the community can attend on Nov. 11 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, members of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary plan to carry on the beef on a bun tradition using a Drive-Thru format.
“The men are helping too, it’s a joint effort, but we’re doing the cooking like we normally do. It will be free, but we’re looking for donations… to support the Legion,” Legion Ladies Auxiliary President Charron Sippola said.
“It will be at the back entrance, back lane. We’ll have signs to show where the cars can come in,” she added, “They’ll get a beef on a bun, and gravy and coleslaw, and dessert.”
The Beef on a Bun Drive-Thru will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
At the Legion, “There are no bazaars, no teas coming up, no Christmas things, so we’re all looking for help and so we’re hoping that it’s a success,” Sippola concluded.
