Letter to the Editor:
Best Newspaper in... Canada?
After cycling across the country, I would like your readers to know that Sioux Lookout has a great weekly paper and news team.
As I stopped in small towns and big cities, I made a point to learn about the local people and culture by picking up their newspaper. Each place has its own way of sharing news: some were monthly collections of reader-submitted material, while a few had local reporters covering the stories that mattered most; some had crosswords, Sudoku, and comics, while others had funny jokes, quotes, and stories from around the world. Regardless of their medium and message, it was more than just a good way to pass the time.
But unlike some small towns, the beauty of your weekly paper is the cost — free! It also covers a good range of information: local volunteers, fatalities, council meetings, fires, accomplishments, sports, and events. As tourists stop here, I think they would gain an appreciation of our town and its people — thanks to the catalyst of the Sioux Lookout Bulletin.
In a world of digital everything, there’s still something to be said about holding a newspaper and reading words from a page.
Thanks for the long-lasting effort in making our place a unique place to live, recapped weekly in 14-pages or so.
