Letter to the Editor:
Correction
Thank you for the recent publications of the family stories presented this past summer for the 2020 Blueberry Festival’s self-guided Cemetery tour. In the past, as we conducted these walks, we always encouraged corrections and additions to the stories presented. Since your January 6th edition of The Bulletin, an error has been brought to our attention.
The Sioux Lookout Genealogy and History Club sincerely apologize for the error made in the transcription of the Bernier Family story from Tracks Beside the Waters Volume One. The three sons of Emil Bernier were mistakenly attached to Emil’s second marriage to Ellyn Pinkess. The piece we presented should have read as follows:
“On September 20, 1951 Emil Bernier married Jean Costin, who had come from Winnipeg as an employee of the Patricia Transportation Company (a subsidiary of James Richardson and Sons). They had three sons: Keith in 1954, Mark in 1956 and David in 1965. When the marriage dissolved, Jean and the boys moved to Winnipeg.
Emil married Ellyn Pinkess, daughter of the late Bea and Barney Pinkess, a well- respected prospector and entrepreneur of the Hudson area.”
We have now inserted this correction into our story collection. It should be noted that this story was also published in our 2012 booklet called “Voices From The Past”. People who have a copy of this, may wish to revise the information in the Bernier Family Story.
To the Emil Bernier sons, Keith, Mark and David, we are extremely sorry that this error occurred and are most grateful for your contributions to correcting this history. Thank you!!
Most sincerely,
Vera Kameda-Lacroix,
Sioux Lookout Genealogy and History Club
