Lac Seul and Sioux Lookout
I believe that the province should loosen its restrictions on the candidacy laws for Mayor and Town Council, as I believe these laws are unjust to all residents. Some were born in Sioux Lookout like me, and some were born overseas like in Britain or Greece. I think the province should relax these requirements and allow for a more democratic election process. The idea that off-town people need to own property to run for a council seat or mayorship should be eliminated. I believe all residents, rich and poor, should be allowed to run for these positions. We enable eligible candidates for Prime Minister to be from any foreign land, then why restrict locals from foreign lands or out of town? If we don’t allow a clause, then are we democratic?
