Legion Ladies Auxiliary
The Legion Ladies Auxiliary is a companion group to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 78. We received our charter in 1949 and the last charter member who passed away was Pat Edye. Pat received her 70 year pin and that showed quite an accomplishment to have served the people of Sioux Lookout for so long.
At our last meeting we were discussing how many women of all ages are a part of our community and do not even know about their opportunity to join this organization. We meet on the first Tuesday of every month and our next meeting is October 4th. There are several women who have expressed an interest in joining our group and we thought there might be others who would like to commit to one meeting a month and then other activities which usually benefit community members such as catering to banquets, having teas or special community meals such as Remembrance Day and have fun activities for our own members.
Since its name is Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch 78, our organization is only open for women to join. We would welcome the addition of more women to help us in our activities. The next big activity will be the Remembrance Day Tea on Saturday, Nov. 5th followed shortly by the Remembrance Day activities in conjunction with Branch 78 on Friday, Nov. 11th. The Legion Ladies also host two bingos a year and always need help there.
If you are interested in joining, please let any Legion Ladies Auxiliary member know or email [email protected] for more information.
Sincerely yours, Sandra Lockhart
