Re: Tim Horton’s Drive Thru
Whose responsibility is it?
When driving down Wellington St. you have probably noticed the vehicles in the drive thru line at Tim Hortons spill out onto the avenue and continue on to Wellington St.
This is an accident waiting to happen.
Some time ago, I spoke to a police officer and was told that I should speak with the Municipality to erect NO STOPPING signs on the avenue. The By-law officer would be able to mete out fines. (I do not understand why the OPP have not been handing out fines for impeding traffic in the interim.)
The Municipality said that they are looking into the problem.
After still seeing nothing change, I asked a police officer in another detachment and was told that Tim Hortons needs to address the problem. Short staffed, adjust your practice!
What about the patrons of Tim Hortons? Should they not respect the rules of the road and go into the parking lot rather than lingering illegally on the street?
What of the patrons not stopping when they leave the parking lot, turning left and ignoring oncoming traffic?
Whose responsibility is it?
In my opinion, the OPP, Municipal operations/bylaw, Tim Hortons and its patrons all have a part to play in fixing the problem.
It is time to make change. This laissez faire attitude cannot continue. What will happen when Dairy Queen opens with their drive thru and lack of staff?
I feel for the residents who live in that neighbourhood.
Respectfully submitted,
Anne Saltel
