Little Obie in Sioux Lookout
Canadian National Railway (CN) brought their safety train, Little Obie, to Sioux Lookout on August 7 during this year’s Blueberry Festival.
The scale model CN locomotive, complete with flatcar and caboose, proved popular with kids and their parents, providing education about train and railway safety.
CN Transportation Manager Muhammad Anwar said, “Little Obie is all about engaging the local community, showing them that CN is committed to safety, not just for CN employees, but the town itself and the environment… we can all work together to stay safe and work together to make the future brighter for the younger generation.”
CN Police Constable Peter Ledrew said he wasn’t surprised at the steady turnout to go for a ride on Little Obie and take in safety messages, “I’ve been coming up here for 21 years and every time there’s any kind of community event in Sioux Lookout, there’s always a real strong positive turnout.”
