The Edwin Switzer Memorial, Branch #78, of the Royal Canadian Legion will be bustling with activity as we head into the cooler months of the year.
Legion Sports Chair Garth Gastmeier shared that this winter the Legion will be running a Dart League with games taking place Wednesdays at 6 30 p.m. He shared, “League registration for four person teams runs until Sept 20. Also, we are having a District qualifier to try for the Manitoba- Northwestern Ontario Provincial Command team in the clubroom downstairs on Sept. 27 starting at 6:30 p.m.”
Gastmeier said the Legion will also be holding a provincial crib team qualifier around the same time that’s being organized by Tanya Nugent and Andre Larocque.
“Our Pool League will be starting on the 20th of September depending on interest. There is also going to be a doubles 8-ball tourney on Sat Sept. 16 starting at 4 p.m. $5 person. On top of this we are also organizing an indoor Bocce League to play on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.; four person teams for that.”
Facebook pages have been created for these events: Sioux Lookout Legion 8-ball League, Sioux Lookout Mixed Dart League, Sioux Lookout Legion Cribbage, and Sioux Legion Indoor/Outdoor Bocce League.
Gastmeier shared, “The Legion is doing an information night for all these events on Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. Registration for these events and leagues can be done with the bartender downstairs.”
