LSPS charge individual with criminal breach of trust and fraud over $5000

A former employee of the Lac Seul Health Center has been arrested and charged following an investigation by the Lac Seul Police Service (LSPS).
Lac Seul Police Service shared in an August 20 media release that, “In May 2021, the Lac Seul Police Service commenced an investigation into the activities of a former Employee of the Lac Seul Health Center. The First Nation reported concerns with a substantial amount of fraudulent activities that occurred between 2019 & 2021.”
LSPS informed that with the assistance of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service - Deer Lake Detachment, a 54-year-old person from Sioux Lookout has been charged with Criminal Breach of Trust - Section 336 of the Criminal Code and Fraud Over $5000 - Section 380(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
The accused was released from custody and will appear in Lac Seul Court on September 29 to answer to the charges.
