Memories and Celebrations of Life:
Marie Marguerite Therese Bower
December 12, 1927 - June 16, 2020
Marie Marguerite Therese Bower, the matriarch of the Bower family left her large family with an abundance of fond memories. Therese was born in St. Omer, Quebec on December 12, 1927 to Irma and Hector Landry. Therese and Lawrence were married in Sioux Lookout on January 24, 1951. She passed away peacefully at home on June 16, 2020 surrounded by family. Therese is survived by loving and devoted husband Lawrence, children Susan (Frank), Dayle, Gayle (Blair), Tim (Moira), Larry (Antje), Adele (Dave) and son-in-law Dave Clace. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, brother, Raymond and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by son-in-law Ken Rusk, daughter Denyse, and brothers Guy and Peter.
Therese raised and nurtured her family with loving moral guidance, occasionally using brutal honesty (“Gramma Burns!” as coined by her grandchildren). Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are always drawn to Sioux Lookout to spend time with Gramma and Poppa. She was accepting of everyone regardless of beliefs or opinions.
She was active her entire life enjoying visiting with folks and family, getting together with friends to play cards, curling, golfing, sewing (making clothing for the family and repairing anything fabric related), crocheting, quilting, square dancing, round dancing, and line dancing. She spent many years working beside Lawrence at Frog Rapids Camp. During the winter months, Therese and Lawrence traveled the world starting with their first trip to Hawaii on a Square Dancing vacation.
She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League, Sacred Heart Parish Choir, various Genealogy Societies and many years ago on the Board of Directors of the Sioux Lookout Curling Club.
During her 92 ½ years of life, Therese has touched all of us. We are all going to miss her greatly.
