Memories & Celebrations: Obituary
Santino CARBONE
October 31, 1950 - March 11, 2024
The family of Santino Carbone announces his peaceful passing at home on March 11th, 2024, in Dundas, ON at the age of 73, with family by his side. His memory lives on through his loving wife, Nancy (Papiez), and his family that treasure him dearly. Cherished father to Nicole (John), and Christopher (Tanya) Carbone, Courtney Roy, and stepfather to Cary (Tracey) DiPietro. Fun-loving Nonno to Marius, Christian and Analise Madsen, Calla and Cole Carbone, and Grandfather to Jessica, Noah, and Sam DiPietro. Beloved brother of Teresa (Tony) Crispino, and Giuseppe (Betty) Carbone, and brother-in-law to Melanie Carbone, and Marla Carbone. He is now reunited with his dear parents, Emilio and Francesca (née Cavaliere), and brothers Renato and Mimmo Carbone.
Santino immigrated from Cosenza, Italy in 1952, with his mother and two older siblings to join his father in Sioux Lookout, ON. A northern boy at heart, he planted his roots in Toronto and Mississauga for decades, before settling down in Dundas.
His natural ability to make people feel at ease and establish trust transferred to his chosen profession of social work. Santino dedicated his career, spanning over 40 years, to helping children and families. He deservingly retired as a well-respected social worker for the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board. He leaves a legacy of kindness and generosity to family and friends, near and far.
Always the life of the party, he would seek out the best that the world had to offer – whether food, music, fashion, or nature. He was a maestro story and joke teller and an avid collector and photographer, capturing the beauty in life often hidden in plain sight. But his most cherished possessions were the relationships he built and maintained over space and time.
Special thanks to Dr. Benjamin Croft, Dr. Shahid Lambe, and to the Palliative Team of St. Joseph’s Home Care for their compassion and comfort. His battle with a rare and determined cancer confirmed his strength and courage in facing life’s final challenge with his signature smile and heart full of gratitude.
ONE UNIVERSE. ONE FAMILY. ONE LOVE.
Tante belle cose.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
