OBITUARY
Bernice Rose Makahnouk (nee Lachinette)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Bernice Rose Makahnouk at her home, at the age of 59 years, on Saturday, August 7, 2021.
Bernice was a kind and generous person who always opened her doors to her family, friends or others who may needed a place to stay whereby she would cook large meals and entertained them during their stay.
Many Care Packages were sent to the North and Thunder Bay to her family members, grandchildren and great grand daughter.
Bernice loved blueberry picking, fishing, boat rides, shopping, garage sales and many a night playing cards and scrabble with her family and friends.
Many weekends were spent with her husband, and family at their cabin property in Lac Seul. She love to travel to Whitesands, and Thunder Bay to visit her family and friends.
Bernice attended Day School, and received her GED Certificate at Sioux Lookout Confederation College Hub and studied Social Work at Confederation College in Thunder Bay.
Bernice’s Employment over the years was with Tikinagan Child and Family Services, Sioux Lookout Health Authority, Out of the Cold Shelter, Donnelly’s Minnitaki Lodge, and Pickeral Arms Camps in Sioux Lookout.
She and her husband Stanley were married in 1985, in Sioux Lookout Ontario where she resided until her passing.
Bernice was predeceased by her son Stanlee, her parents Alma and Isodore, Step father Bill Brown, Step sisters Patsy and Bonnie.
Bernice will be forever missed and loved by her husband Stanley of 45 years, her sons, Richard and Jonathon, Grandchildren Kiara, Dominic, and great grand daughter Novalee, Sister Mary Anne, brother Bruce and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The Funeral and Interment services, with Muriel Anderson Officiating, took place on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Sacred Heart Cemetary in Sioux Lookout, Ontario.
In lieu of Flowers, the family requested donations be made to the Sioux Looks for Paws Rescue in Bernice’s memory.
