Obituary

With sincere respect and appreciation to the friends & colleagues of Robert Smetana,

To the community of Sioux Lookout, words cannot describe how you all came together when Rob passed.  He was obviously loved and appreciated in this town and my only hope is that he always knew how much.

I am so grateful & appreciative of the many gifts, flowers, cards, meals and sentiments of sympathy; far too many to mention here, but I am thankful for my hometown and my history here.

I will forever be beholden to Jeremy Funk, Andre DeGange, Tannis Favot & Jean Kim for their immediate and ever lasting support as well as to Dennis Lenny & Jack Roy for their special contribution.  Also, to the Sioux Lookout OPP detachment specifically Andrew Simpson and Natalia Gauthier who were outstanding in their professionalism and compassion.

As per Rob’s request there was no funeral service, nor formal announcements.  I believe his many friends, colleagues & acquaintances have taken the opportunity to say good-bye in their own way and we have all shared with loved ones the many stories & sentiments of our lives with Rob. 

I am truly grateful for the love & support of our amazing little community.
