Waterfront Development
Council awarded the contract for the Sioux Lookout Waterfront Development Project to RJ Concrete and Construction Ltd., in the amount of $1,705,301.67 + HST; and further Council authorized the passing of By-law No. 53-20, Being a By-law to Authorize the Mayor and the Clerk to Execute an Agreement Between The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout and RJ Concrete and Construction Ltd. For the Sioux Lookout Waterfront Development Project; and further Council authorized a transfer from the Infrastructure Reserve Fund in an amount of $602,201 to the operating fund to offset the additional project costs for this project; and further Council directed that all Municipal Accommodation Tax revenues received be used to replenish the Instructure Reserve Fund until the $609,201 is recovered.
Municipal Health and Safety – COVID 19 Policies and Procedures
Council authorized the passing of By-law No. 54-20, Being a Bylaw to Establish a Health and Safety Policy Manual for The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout and to Adopt Certain Health and Safety Policies.
Those polices included: COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Policy, Pandemic Re-opening – Municipal Construction Site Safety, Hand Washing Policy, Physical Distancing Policy, Fleet Use During COVID-19, COVID-19 Active Screening Measures, Cleaning and Disinfecting During COVID-19, Cleaning and Disinfecting when a positive for COVID-19 occurs, Donning and Doffing Non-Medical Glove Procedure, Donning and Doffing Non-Medical Facemasks Procedure, and Respiratory Etiquette during COVID-19.
By-law No. 55-20, Being a By-law to Appoint an Emergency Services Manager/Fire Chief for The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout (Robert Popovic)
By-law No. 55-20 was read a first, second, and third time and passed by Council on June 3.
WHEREAS the Council of The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout has enacted a by-law to establish a Fire Department; and
WHEREAS section 6(1) of the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997, as amended, requires that the Council of a municipality for which a fire department has been established shall appoint a Fire Chief for the fire department; and
WHEREAS the Council of The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout deems it expedient and necessary to appoint a Fire Chief;
NOW THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY
OF SIOUX LOOKOUT ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT Robert Popovic be and is hereby appointed Emergency Services Manager/Fire Chief for The Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout.
2. THAT this By-law shall come into force on June 3, 2020 and shall take effect on June 8, 2020.
