Municipality of Sioux Lookout advises of changes to its operations in response to ‘Emergency Brake’ shutdown

The Municipality of Sioux Lookout is advising residents of changes to its operations made in response to the Province-wide ‘Emergency Brake’ shutdown, which went into effect on Saturday, April 3 at 12:01 a.m., for at least a four week period.
The following Municipal facilities will be CLOSED to walk-in traffic:
- The Recreation Centre and Gymnasium – except for vaccination clinics
- The Municipal Office (phones and email will be monitored)
- The Public Works Garage (phones and email will be monitored)
- The Fire Hall (phones and email will
- be monitored)
- The Airport Administration Building (phones and email will be monitored)
The following Municipal facilities will remain OPEN to the public:
- The Airport Terminal Building
- The Hidden Lake Landfill Site (Dump)
- The Biidaaban and Sioux Mountain Children’s Centres
- Outdoor parks, greenspaces, and recreation facilities with physical distancing
- being observed
The Municipality is advising that with its offices being closed, 2020 burning permits will remain valid until a 2021 permit can be purchased. More information on burning permits, including a downloadable application form (available on April 5,) is available online at https://www.siouxlookout.ca/en/living-here/burning-permits.asp. Payments can be made by cash or cheque and left in the drop-box at the Municipal Office.
