Municipality of Sioux Lookout launches new website

The Municipality of Sioux Lookout has launched a new website.
“Visitors to the Municipality of Sioux Lookout’s website will experience a new look and feel, starting today (March 25). siouxlookout.ca has undergone a bit of reorganization but should still feel familiar,” the Municipality shared in a March 25 media release.
“The need to look at alternatives presented itself suddenly, in late November,” explained IT & Communications Specialist, Chris Pollard. “We were contacted by our provider and informed that the platform we had been using for over a decade was being discontinued at the end of September. “They provided a demo and quote for their replacement solution in mid-December. Once reviewed, it was determined that the costs were simply far too high to move forward with.”
The Municipality shared that after searching for alternative solutions, and discussions with surrounding communities faced with the same dilemma, “demos and quotes were supplied, and a new platform was chosen for the Municipality’s website. The most significant result of this change was an annual hosting cost reduction of around $10,000 per year.”
CAO & Municipal Clerk, Brian P. MacKinnon added, “The timeline for this unplanned project was extremely tight – about 8 weeks from first access to launch. There will be more additions, features, and functionality in the coming weeks and months, as staff explore the new features available to us.”
