NAN honours Keewaywin Award recipients

Members of Nishnawbe Aski Nation’s (NAN) newly elected Executive Council, Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler and Deputy Grand Chiefs Anna Betty Achneepineskum, Bobby Narcisse, and Mike Metatawabin, are congratulating recipients of the 2024 Keewaywin Awards, “for their outstanding leadership and contributions to our Nations.”
Recipients were honoured on the evening of Aug. 14 during the 42nd Keewaywin Conference, held in Constance Lake First Nation.
“These awards recognize the outstanding accomplishments of NAN citizens and their contributions to our communities. It is important that we acknowledge the achievements of these youth, women, and Elders,” said Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler. “We are grateful for their invaluable contributions that have enriched our communities and inspired us all.”
2024 Keewaywin Award recipients include:
- Emile Nakogee Award for Outstanding Leadership – Norma Kejick, Lac Seul First Nation
- NAN Elder Award – Lucy Kakegamic, Keewaywin First Nation
- NAN Woman Award – Eartha Davidson, Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (transferring to Muskrat Dam First Nation)
- NAN Youth Award (Leadership) – Adonia Dunwell, Flying Post First Nation
- NAN Youth Award (Community Involvement) – Aurora Gull, Peawanuk (Weenusk) First Nation
- NAN Youth Award (Cultural) – Ramon Kataquapit, Attawapiskat First Nation
- NAN Youth Award (Academic) – Trentin Thomas, Mattagami First Nation
- NAN Staff Recognition Award – Luke Hunter, Peawanuk (Weenusk) First Nation
