New electronic parking ticket system in Sioux Lookout

The Municipality of Sioux Lookout has moved to a new electronic parking ticket system, which went into effect on Monday, February 26.
According to the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, the previous system for dealing with parking tickets was quite outdated. “A major issue was that it did not allow for proper information transfer to the MTO and POA office as their systems changed over time. This resulted in tickets and violations that went unpaid not being properly processed.”
The Municipality informed that this new system, “Not only allows for the proper transfer of information to the province but also includes an appeal process through the online portal, online payments, and the opportunity for those who received a ticket to view pictures and supporting information linked to that ticket. None of this was previously possible. Since this will all be available online, it is much more accessible. You can deal with it from home, outside of office hours, from anywhere you have an internet connection.”
The Municipality informed that the online portal soft launched on March 1, and is linked on their website, https://www.siouxlookout.ca, with options to pay and appeal tickets available now, with more features launching this spring.
“Licence plate information from the tickets that go unpaid after the 15-day grace period, will be sent to the MTO and then the POA office for processing with the Courts. Unpaid Municipal fines are recognized by the Ministry of Transportation and will result in the renewal of the licence plate being rejected until the fines are paid, or the plate will expire. Expired plates would then be subject to roadside enforcement. The online portal will make it much easier for those wanting to ensure their ticket is paid in a timely fashion,” the Municipality noted.
