Northwest Farmers Markets quickly approaching
Jesse Bonello - Staff Writer
The first Northwest Farmers Market is just before the end of the month. Markets will be ongoing until the end of September.
Hosted at the Travel Information Centre, the markets are on every-other-Friday starting on May 24 with continued dates on June 7, June 21, July 5, July 19, Aug. 2, Aug. 16, Aug. 30, Sept. 13, and Sept. 27.
Those in attendance at the Travel Information Centre are always looking to enjoy the markets coupled with the outdoors and sunshine but, if bad weather is encountered, there’s always a back-up plan to make sure the markets take place as scheduled.
“We always have the arena even if we have them here (Travel Information Centre). The arena is always booked just in case. If it looks like it’s going to rain, I have to make the call between 4 - 6 p.m. on Thursday night. So, if it ends up being sunny, it’s still going to be inside unfortunately,” said Jessica Crawford, Travel Information Centre manager and Chamber of Commerce executive assistant.
Crawford shared that those looking to participate as vendors in the Aug. 2 market, which marks the beginning of the 37th Annual Sioux Lookout Blueberry Festival, should register now before it fills up.
Some of the confirmed vendors for May 24 include Pat Hildebrand with Pat’s Artisan Breads, Ingrid Cummings with Watkins products, Cornell Farms, Rainy River Meats, and Vegan Delights.
