Northwest Unit of OECTA supports local charitable organizations through 2021 Advent Efforts

Out of the Cold in Sioux Lookout is one of five organizations benefiting from the generosity of members of the Northwest Unit of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA).
The Executive members of the Northwest Unit of OECTA shared in a Dec. 15 press release Advent Efforts for 2021.
“This year by unanimous decision, the following local charities have been each gifted a $250 donations to continue their good works through the 2021 Advent and Christmas season:
- United Native Friendship Centre - Food Bank - Fort Frances
- Food Bank and Thrift Store - Emo
- Native Friendship Centre - Food Bank - Atikokan
- Native Friendship Centre - Food Bank- Dryden
- Out Of The Cold Program - Sioux Lookout”
“We acknowledge that none of our communities are exempt from hardship and poverty. The Unit pledges that it will continue to be an ally in the fight for Social Justice and Reconciliation issues,” the Northwest Unit of OECTA shared.
The Northwest Unit of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) is a local labour union representing over 100 permanent and occasional members from the following communities:
Atikokan, Dryden, Fort Frances, Stratton and Sioux Lookout.
