NWHU provides update on 2019 Novel Coronavirus

The Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 (previously known as 2019- nCoV or 2019 novel coronavirus) situation globally and shared that public health officials remain confident that the risk level to residents of the area remains low at this time.

Donna Stanley, Manager of the Infectious Disease Program at the NWHU, advises if people are feeling unwell with a fever and cough, “it is most likely a viral respiratory infection like the common cold or influenza.”
She further recommends, “If you are unwell, stay home from work or school and do not visit hospitals and long term care homes to prevent spreading the illness to others.”
