NWMO supports campaign to bring MRI unit to SLMHC with $15,000 donation

A donation last week from the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) to the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation is helping to bring an MRI unit at the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) a step closer to becoming a reality.
On May 29, at SLMHC, Debbie Hart, NWMO Site Engagement Associate – Ignace, presented members of the SLMHC Foundation Board with a cheque for $15,000.
SLMHC President and Chief Executive Officer Dean Osmond shared, “We are very pleased to receive a donation of $15,000 from Nuclear Waste Management Organization, towards the MRI campaign. This is the maximum one time donation that they can give an organization. We are extremely grateful to receive the maximum allotted.”
Vince Ponka, NWMO Regional Communications Manager – Northern Ontario, shared, “The NWMO was very happy to make this donation in Sioux Lookout.
“The NWMO is proud to support the health and well-being of Sioux Lookout and regional residents though our donation of $15,000 towards the purchase of a state-of-the-art MRI machine for the Meno Ya Win Health Centre. Supporting communities where we live and work is a very important part of the NWMO’s work.”
Melissa Slade, Donor Relations/Operations Coordinator, Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation, commented, “As we continue to spread our reach regarding the ongoing campaign to bring MRI services to Sioux Lookout, this donation comes at an opportune time.  We appreciate that NWMO recognizes the positive impact and importance that this state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment will have on all residents in Northwestern Ontario, much beyond the borders of our small town, and is excited to assist in making this goal a reality. Every dollar helps in this campaign and we certainly are grateful for their generosity and support.”
