An ALPR alert of a suspended driver leads to impaired charges
On April 14, 2023, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Sioux Lookout Detachment were on patrol where officers were alerted of a possible suspended driver via the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system which resulted in impaired driving charges for one Sioux Lookout female.
At 11:33 a.m., members of the Sioux Lookout OPP Detachment were notified by the ALPR system that the owner of the subject vehicle was a suspended driver. Officers conducted a traffic stop which revealed the following.
As a result of the investigation, a 15-year-old female of Sioux Lookout has been criminally charged with:
- Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
- Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent
The accused will appear in Sioux Lookout Court on May 9, 2023.
