OPP Report:
OPP request public assistance regarding bike theft
Ontario Provincial Police
Members from the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are requesting assistance from the public to locate a stolen bicycle. The bicycle was taken from the bike racks in front of the Sioux Lookout Recreation Centre on October 17, 2019, between 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm. It is described as a light blue BMX bicycle with white tires and black rims.
The OPP are requesting the public to contact the Sioux Lookout OPP at 807-737-2020 or 1-888-310-1122, to provide any information they may have regarding this incident. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
Police urge the public to take safety precautions against bike theft. Ensure bicycles are secured to a proper bike rack using an adequate bike lock. Whenever possible, both the frame and wheel should be secured to the rack. Lock your bike in a well-lit, well-traveled area, and do not park your bike on the street overnight.
In case of theft, record your serial numbers, take a photo of your bicycle, and save these with your purchase information in a secure location. Bike owners may also consider registering their bicycle with a national bicycle registry program, such as https://project529.com.
